Thinking back to about the same time,
I remember covering songs by The Police,
38 Special and The Cars, among others.
Nothing ever got recorded as far as I know
though, so it's all just the stuff of memories.

We did "Funtime" by Iggy Pop. But we made it "Fagtime".

Excellent.

I want to post a couple of tracks as well (not my own, of course), but I'll do that in a separate post rather than jump on your post.

I'm going through the Canadian poets on PPP, bringing the articles that need it up to standard.

This week's songwriter is Gordon Downie. He's published one book, & 3 or 4 solo albums; but he's best known as the songwriter and lead singer of an iconic Canadian group, The Tragically Hip. They've been going strong for 30 years, but soon may come to an end: Downie's been diagnosed with brain cancer, and could go at any time.

Here's the 2 tracks I embedded on his article on the wiki. The first is a '90's song with the Hip, appropriately titled "Poets":

The other is Downie solo, reading a poem and then doing an acoustic version of one of the Hip's bigger hits, "Bobcaygeon":
