Late Seventies night
In the Hilton trailer park
Greg Carter in his room
Playing guitar
A song he called "Santiago"
What could be considered
A kind of Latin
Or mellow music.

Quite a few minutes pass
Between three people
In Greg Carter's room
A small room
In a small trailer
In the south side of town.

Somehow somewhere some wah wait
However
Somehow someway whenever
Send around the tailor
Just don't forget the chef.

Get me an appointment
With the guy
You were talking about
Draw all the curtains
Control the underbelly
Of fear that rolls.

Question: What's a wah, and what's a wah wait for?

Half a wah wah pedal, or a broken one.

George Harrison used the wah a lot in his 1970s solo work. Greg Carter played a great cover of "Blackbird" which he planned to take to Hollywood and perform on the Gong Show. He left in spring of 1977 with our girl friend Amy and my copy of Rimbaud's "Season In Hell" and I never saw either of the three again.

And so it goes.

If the reference was to that particular thing,
then perhaps a capital W would help serve
to identify it as something of importance or
special meaning rather than onomatopoeia,
and 'either of the three' is so wrong it's funny.

I wrote it in 1977 and I liked it as-is. In 2017 I made a typo on it which I would change if I could, I typed an /s/ instead of an /a/.

Nobody but you cares that you liked it as is,
or that you made a typo. I offered constructive
criticism to help you make your work easier
for people like me who read you to understand.

And I appreciate your help (I really do)... changes you suggested will appear in the next rewrite.

Enjoyed first/second stanzas seems something was passed around bringing the third and fourth into a hazy crazy summer.....

I think I see what you mean, Jimmy, the poem drifts a realim to a sort of psychedelic imagery...

Seems like personal poetry, which is fine.
Perhaps we as writers need to designate
what our current efforts, and/or works are
for?

For instance, most of mine are meant to be serious
efforts. Some though, are responses to my thoughts
on others works or post, that snowball in my mind and
onto the page. Some are of the personal variety, that
without my details added for needed context, are festooned
with reflection you might not understand. Although, I
attempt to make it general enough for one to pour in
their own experience. Sort of, like some of the best
songwriters do...

I would say most of my poetry is both serious and personal... my work tends to the autobiographical.
