It's fish wrap, Donkey.

The paper was "read" by visitors to Columbus looking for a place to eat and/or drink.

They didn't read your "column" or your "poetry."

Your publication "credits" have no more value than your "Perky" award, which was handed out for every profession in town.

"Playgrounds" is an advertisement for local restaurants and bars.

It will not be archived as a literary magazine.

It was picked up by visitors to Columbus, used to find a restaurant for dinner, and forgotten.

To-all-intents-and-purposes, it's fish wrap.

Deal with it.

There's no need to click.

Local listings flyers like "Playgrounds" are deposited in "free" bins near the entrance/exit of he local businesses that advertise in them.

No one has any reason to check it out, Will.

The listings are no longer current. Half of the bars and restaurants have probably closed, any coupons are long out of date, etc.

A monthly flyer has a shelf of exactly one month. Its distribution is local, and of interest only to residents/visitors of the area it covers (Columbus, GA).

The majority of issues are leafed through and tossed in the nearest trash bin. The rest are used to set the dog dish on, make confetti, or... to wrap fish in.

Today it would (at least in theory) be of interest only to a local historian interested in cataloging the local events and entertainments of 10-15 years ago.

You've posted issues of Playgrounds online, Donkey.

I've flipped through those issues.

It's a local listings paper that has no other purpose than to direct visitors to advertising restaurants and bars.

You wrote filler for it (all such magazines have their share of filler).

But the filler is only read (if at all) by locals.

It's nothing to include on one's resume... but then I've seen your "resume" at LinkedIn.

Right, you can't.
I told you, Donkey -- anyone who's ever been published in a literary magazine has topped that.

You wrote an unpaid column in a local listings paper.

It's a step above your xeroxed chapbooks, and a step beneath your high school paper.

Just because they printed a lot of copies doesn't change the facts:

1) It was a local publication that did not have national (or international) distribution,
2) It was a local publication that did not hold any interest to anyone outside of the area,
3) It was a local publication whose primary purpose was to provide visitors with information on the various bars and restaurants in the area.
4) No professional writer would count that as a legitimate publication credit.

"To The Magic Store" is on Page 12
"Swamp Street Exile", a poem by Will Dockery is on Page 12
Like I said, with a circulation of 10,000 copies per month for over twenty years.
Top that, jealous troll.
Right, you can't.

<Whining snipped>
Stop your sobbing, Pendragon, your jealousy is unbecoming.
No real writer would consider a local listings paper
Again, that was not the purpose of Playgrounds Magazine, which was actually a local arts and entertainment monthly.
Glad to correct your lies and misrepresentations and to set the record straight, Pendragon.
You've posted issues of Playgrounds online
I've flipped through those issues
So, I don't expect anything positive from you, Pendragon, you're so ignorant you even have fantasies about burning the poetry of Charles Bukowski, Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg, three of the greatest poets of all time.
Not only that, you're a fan of the wretched music of Pat Boone.
In other words, your opinion is meaningless to me.
HTH and HAND.
If that were true, you wouldn't have bothered responded.

Michael Pendragon
"Well, I've gone black and did come back. The black women I've had sex
with have been very exciting... there's that element of interest,
slightly different muscle tone and genital make up, that's hard to
describe in a family oriented group... it is a very tasty treat
indeed..."

I've seen his commercials from 2018.

I realize that you live in a perpetual state of mental fog brought on by years of drug and alcohol abuse (and mild retardation), but four-year old commercials do not translate to "now" (as in "Pat Boone is now focused on...").

I have also listened to his current radio show on SiriusXM.

Since his radio show, "50s Gold," is current (and not four years old), it is safe to conclude that his primary focus (at least professionally) would be on that.

HtH & HAND.

Where are your statistics to back up your claim?

TSORT lists him as currently being the 65th most successful musical artist of all time:

[Needless to say, Will Dockery does not even appear on the list.]

Whatever year the Pat Boone walk in tub commercials are from, they air every night, an are the main thing the general public knows about Pat Boone, like it or not.
Who are you to say what the general public knows about Pat Boone?
Pat Boone hasn't had a hit record in about sixty years, for starters.
Besides oldies fans, Pat Boone is, at best, known to the general public as the old guy in the walk in tub commercials.
And so it goes.
FWIW: His last hit single was in 1975.
Pat Boone had a hit single in 1975?
That's news to me.
That is interesting, I am not familiar with that one..

Playgrounds Magazine / October 2013 issue
"To The Magic Store" is on Page 12
"Swamp Street Exile", a poem by Will Dockery is on Page 12
As I said, with a circulation of 10,000 copies per month for over twenty years.
Top that, Pendragon, you shit slinging little monkey.
Right, you can't.
I told you
No, all you've done is whine incessantly all day, Pendragon, you shit slinging little monkey.

As I've told you, Playgrounds Magazine was a monthly arts and entertainment paper, with a circulation of 10,000 copies per month.

I published a monthly column and poem in every issue for nearly twenty years.

In just one month my audience was larger than the audience you had in a decade of vanity press pamphlet publication.

Stop your jealous whining and get over it, Pendragon.

HTH and HAND.

"Well, I've gone black and did come back. The black women I've had sex
with have been very exciting... there's that element of interest,
slightly different muscle tone and genital make up, that's hard to
describe in a family oriented group... it is a very tasty treat
indeed..."
-- Will Dockery, the man who went black and came back.

Yes, they often are.

I know if at least a dozen such papers in the Atlanta area, to name one city with a variety of art, music and entertainment papers available for free.

The advertising covers the expenses, much like television and radio.

close to 'converting' to negrohood... remember in the early 1980s
when I hated white folks and all that?"

The original owner sold the paper and the new owners couldn't keep it rolling for some reason, and it was cancelled a few years ago.
