--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you know that many of the Founding Fathers were familiar with the
poetry classics? On this week’s edition of Home School Heartbeat,
HSLDA President Mike Smith speaks with Kathy Weitz about cultivating a
love for the good, the true, and the beautiful through the study of
poetry.

The Nut Case for Poetry:

Sometimes I work with wingnuts, and in that capacity
I can relate a wingnut's fate with great tenacity.
A wingnut works in spirals, "righty tighty, lefty loose",
and that's just what I do when putting wingnuts to good use.
A wingnut wrench hold wings to give the nut some extra torque.
I learned that from some rightwing nut. I think he's from New York.
One needs to keep nuts tight when nuts are needed for the job.
Some think that I'm an expert, but I know a guy named Bob
who really knows his wingnuts as if born to just that task.
Maybe he knows something else. I never thought to ask.
You might think that a wingnut is a silly epithet,
but it's the one I'll use until I find a better yet.
Have you been insulted, or this verse have you enjoyed?
Partly jest, I do my best to keep wingnuts employed.
