YY YYYYYYYYYYYyyYYYYYYY
yesterday I walked in and waited.
On my book,
chapter 37,
the same as my age.
By the time they were done,
I was on chapter 45,
the same as my age.

and while I was there
I heard the voices quite distinctly,
distantly,
guided down the hallway,
directed clearly through the distance
unimpeded in that unbaffled,
undamped chamber.
The voices channeled like microwaves
through a waveguide...
right to my ears.
Though the hallway was long,
I could clearly hear him ask
about her birth control pills.
And her kidding reply.

and the old man's nose
was still bleeding
while he Alzheimerly wandered the
halls
looking for his wife...
who had all the answers.
He could no longer think for himself,
he, like a good schoolboy knew, at least,
where to find the answers to life's mysteries.

"And what seems to be your problem today sir?"
And though the doctor could see blood all over his face,
And even though the old man could sense it,
He could only reply:
They just told me to sit here.
I don't know the answers,
You better ask my wife.

What is the meaning of all the Y's? Yes's, why's?

In the second stanza, we think that you should cut some of the description of the sound coming to you down the hallway, as that id overly detailed and doesn't really add to the punchline of the last two lines. We do like the repeat of the wife having all the answers.

The poem just needs to be tightened a bit.

Wrote it in 1986 so am not sure why all the 'Y's" except maybe to
represent the echoey hall.

Will tighten things up when I do the next edit, thanks

Thanks.

I think Nancy said I should clean it up.

I saved a 2nd copy with one line removed and I also took out the y's.

Going to keep it without the line but still wondering about the y's.

Maybe I should as "the boss."
