Plastic Wander

Think back
as light hacks
through the trees.

Onto the balcony
on the sunny side
in my sidewalk shoes.

Enemies and allies
it seems
we may be both.

Roustabout
through broken glass
or something in between.

Brothers
even our sister shuns us
she got out
of the kitchen.

From the closet to
that brick oven
she was too close
to the heat.

When every day
is just another to survive
draw another line.

Rushing on my run
just pleased sometimes
to simply wake up alive.

In these days
of darkness and steel
cross past those gates
past the setting sun.

Sitting on the hood
waiting on that
pizza in the oven
don't overdo the sauce.

Old Chef
sketches out a pie
let the foundation
rise properly.

Let the yeast expand
dealing toppings
from the deck.

She gave the verse
a bit of sting.

She was there
and gone so fast
there was
no time to sing.

Rats in the walls
as this kingdom
crumbles and falls.
