It's a bit of a stretch, but I'll make a stronger effort to get there
this year than I did last. I know Shaun said he'd wanted to get
together with you too before he headed out West for work, so I'll try
to get there for the both of us this year. I can't promise to bring
my wife though. Somebody's got to stay home, tend to business, and
keep an eye on the dogs.

I finally saw that episode of Pickers on the History Channel with The
Museum of Wonder in it. That place looks like a real hoot, and I
remember you saying what a great time you all had last year. Let's
make a plan for it.

I checked my calendar, and we're clear so far. My HAT Run (see link)
is the week before your Doo-Nanny, and I don't have any other
conflicts that I can see as of yet, but of course we're still three
months out and you know what they say about best laid plans. We do
what we can do, and then we hope for the best.

No doubt if you wanted to you could easily get the "job" of reciting poetry
onstage between performers, as they break down and set up gear... a thought,
anyhow.

I recall that she (am I mistaken or is her name Honey?) isn't into the

Since I no longer watch television, I haven't managed to catch that show
yet. I'm sure Butch Anthony comes across brilliantly on the small screen,
though, I wonder if they gave Julie Pooley any camera time...

Corey, there's room on the grounds for pretty much anyone who wants to come,
bring tent & provisions, and possibly a boat & fishing gear (as I know you
dig fishing, and there's a good sized lake at the Woods of Wonder.

Ami (of Mad Tea Party) just posted the tentative music schedule for the
weekend, which has my entourage closing out the weekend, Sunday evening:

2011 Doo-Nanny Music Line-up:
http://ukulelerockstar.wordpress.com/2011/01/03/2011-doo-nanny-music-line-up/

Friday:
Screamingjs at the Possum Trot Auction

Saturday:
Mad Tea Party, Jar-e, Casa de Chihuahua, Doc Dailey & Magnolia Devil, Jake
Fussell, Resistance Ensemble, Storm Shelter, Red Hot Sugar Babies, J Glenn,
Bibb City Ramblers

Sunday:
Jenny Greer, Allison King, Shady Branches, Shadowville All-Stars

We'll also have Butter Holler on the Pickin' Porch ALL weekend!

Stay tuned for more info as we get closer to the event..."

No, I'm not really big into fishing. You're just remembering my poem
about fishing I think. I'm more of a fitness buff. I do fitness
exercises in the buff, that's my thing.

No worries. You took a shot, which is to say you made an honest
effort; you made a simple mistake anyone could have made with respect
to her name; and you remembered correctly that she isn't into the
camping/rustic type thing. So long as you don't compound your mistake
be thinking that just because she's not into the camping/rustic type
thing as you mean it, that she isn't into the great outdoors, which
she definitely is when she gets out of the house, which is frequently,
like now, because we're going out for a while.

So somebody else better write something by the time I get back or I'm
going to be really pissed off; and if I get really pissed off, I'll
tell Angel on you. And believe you me, Angel knows all about you, and
if I tell her that you pissed me off, there'll be Hell to pay. You
may or may not be able to handle me by yourself, but I promise you,
you do not want Angel pissed off at you too because although I may be
known as a pretty tough character in certain circles, I'm certainly no
match for her except in every other imaginable way, of course.

I dont know how I did it, but I somehow seem to have switched Angel
with Lenny Bruce's wife, Honey, maybe via Stuart's Nipsey Russell
follies, maybe not. Not really that true a story but the only other
person named "Honey" I can think of right now... again, apologies to
you & especially Angel.

Looks like a good spot to repeat driving directions to the Woods of
Wonder here on this bigger thread:

http://tinyurl.com/Doo-Nanny-Directions

Once you get to Poorhouse Road, look for big hand-painted "Doo-Nanny"
signs:

http://www.doo-nanny.com/

"...Begun as a roadside folk art show in 1996, the Doo-Nanny is now
located on a beautiful 80 acre farm in Seale, AL, near Columbus, Ga,
and includes a wacky "lo-fi" film festival, fun food, and an eclectic
assortment of music and activities. Camping is limited and we suggest
planning ahead [...] Come all ye inventors, movie makers, ballerinas,
bikers, morticians, bakers, artists, conspiracy theorists, scientists,
foodies, eco-whatevers, moonshiners, comedians, fire-spinners,
yodelers, he-shes, animal-trainers, pickle-makers, party girls, sock
monkeys, stackers, jugglers, musicians, whittlers, spankers,
fisherpersons, beggers, wanderers, and map-makers..."

Probably the film version, which, like Tony Curtis as Houdidni, is the
one that tends to stick, which would make Honey as played by Valerie
Perrine who or what I really had somewhere in my mind, or maybe not:

"...Valerie Perrine is one of those underappreciated talents who are
mainly stuck in B fares. She shines in Agency (1980), dir. George
Kaczender..."

Anyway, all that's cleared up and I'll never forget Angel's name
again, I promise.

If I can't write, I don't write, and don't worry about it. I'll find
something else to do, like talk or watch something. I prefer to
write, but I don't mind talking at all. If prefer to write

supposed to be heightened? That's kind of how I feel when I write,
all touch, smell, taste, sound, and the like. That's probably why
some people say they can't find any imagery in my poems. I probably
write like a blind man. I try to write like a blind man, because I am
a blind man. Not only am I literally losing my sight with age, I
literally can't see you from however many miles we are apart, so I am
essentially blind to you. I have to trust my other senses to inform
me what to think of you, and I do. Trust you and my senses, I mean.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm looking for, somebody to do some field
recordings. Pick anything you like, but I have to admit that I did
kind of rewrite The Villanelle with you in mind, so if you were to do
as suggested, and make a Youtube video of that, you would a) please me
very much; b) be seen by most everybody I know, which includes some
fairly influential, moneyed, and educated people; c) create yet
another 'stir' amongst this and other Usenet groups; d) be promoting
both yourself and Doo-Nanny; e) have my blessing.

If you need any more good reasons, let me know. I might even be
convinced to pay you for your time and energy at an hourly rate better
than you've ever made in your life. Who knows.

Don't do the wig thing.
You don't dig the wig? You may want to reconsider me tinkering with
your work, then...

...I don't mind you coming around and hanging out, possibly some level
of collaborations, but I don't solicit or follow directions on such
things, no offense, but I had a guitarist recently try to tell me that
I shouldn't wear my sunglasses on stage! Yes, I did laugh in his face,
how could I not? I told him he could decide on his look and I'll do
likewise for myself, no worries.

Wig or not, shaved bald or not, blue hair, sunglasses... that's my
problem I'll gladly handle on my own.
Other than that, just be yourself.
Like I had any choice but to be myself... I'm certainly not Dire
Straits, although I was flattered to be compared to their sound
once...

It seems possible I can work this project in, time permitting, but
realistically, I see I have a few things outstanding of my own to nail
down better before I begin to focus on anything else as important as
your poetry (which is why I wish you could perform it yourself, & let
me help promote *that*). In addition to getting the Shadowville All-
Stars set together, which may run for a number of hours, I was
reminded on the Woods Of Wonder film fest site that I also need to get
with Brian Fowler and complete the video for the T.O.T.M. sound track,
which was also being planned for a spot at the Doo-Nanny, and time is
short.

If we don't get to an interpretation of your poem by this year, then
almost certainly by the next, or at the October Boo-Nanny.

Okay, I can understand and even agree with that, if the lady doesn't
like something, it has to be considered. Really, a lot of people
probably hated that wig, and just between me and you, that was
probably one reason why I loved wearing it so much.

The wig was last year, and I wore it because Julie Pooley gave it to
me right before the set... and you seem to know how that sort of
things work... see above.

Not sure what the look of 2011 is yet, so far it seems to be a Van

I don't care if you're bearded, or clean shaven. My son, Maasson,
keeps playing with his facial hair too. He lives close by with his
girlfriend and stops by for coffee and a chat almost every morning,
but I never quite know who's going to come walking through the front
door. Angel is all into Wii fitness, and we have the Wii machine set
up in the guest bedroom/her gym. Maasson comes over to play Wii
soccer. I exercise in the basement/dungeon, or outside on the road,
running. In the winter, I mostly stick to the dungeon because I'm a
real pussy when it comes to running in the cold. I can run in the
cold, I have all the necessary equipment. I'd just rather run near
naked, and warm. Safest place to do that is in the basement. I'm not
ugly naked, but I wouldn't force a naked me on anyone, and I could
potentially get into some trouble if I were to run naked outside,
except in specifically sanctioned naked races, of which there are
several. I usually win those races because most of those people seem
to be primarily focused on, and enjoying the experience of being naked
outside, whereas I'm actually a real good runner, and couldn't go as
slow as them if I tried, unless there's a really hot chick, and then I
tend to lag behind a bit, for obvious reasons that, fortunately,
aren't so obvious while running because it's almost impossible to run
with a hardon.

Don't be stupid, Will. I didn't use any insulting names, and I didn't
intend for you to be insulted by calling you a moron. Why do you
assume I'm trying to pick a fight with you? I thought we were
friends. Don't your friends ever talk to you that way? How do you
respond if the guy behind you at the traffic light honks and says
"Move it, moron"? Do you really think he's trying to pick a fight
with you? When you're obvilious to the obvious you're a moron, and
you are apparently oblivious to the obvious here in several respects,
so I'm just bringing the obvious to your attention.

When faced with the obvious you can either act like an idiot and argue
about it, or you can agree that you are at least momentarily moronic
about a particular issue. If you saw it that way though you'd almost
be obliged to thank me for calling you a moron in so much as doing so
opened your eyes to the idea that you could proceed unabated, and I
just don't see you being smart enough to do that.

Actually, it seems one of us might get shot down, down in these parts.
As one of my friends just posted on another friend's page yesterday:

"I've already had to deal with some asshole trying to run me over
today on Eberhardt. And then when I yelled at him to slow down, he
decides to pull a gun on me and to make it worse, after calling CPD,
they did nothing! So, roll with it! [...] They are scary. It'll make
me think twice before yelling at the next thug speeding through my
neighborhood. Hell, they turned off 13th leaving skid marks they were
driving so fast. And all CPD would offer is patrol the neighborhood
more, despite the fact I gave them a tag# and a gun was involved!"

You might not call each other those specific names, but you almost
certainly have colloquial expressions used to convey similar
sentiments, old son.
Post by Will Dockery
Actually, it seems one of us might get shot down, down in these parts.
In context, that suggests taking the law into your own hands is
customary behaviour, and thus you might shoot me down for calling you
a moron, old son. Think about that. In context, you just threatened
me. How would you expect someone to respond to "someone might get
shot"?

Don't worry, I'm not coming anywhere near you or Doo-Nanny. Who would
want to visit to a place like Columbus or Seale where people are
oblivious to the obvious but get insulted when it's pointed out to
them; or yell at passing motorists who pull guns while the police do
nothing? Sounds like you might as well be in Tunis, or Cairo, or
Sanaa, or Amman, or Tripoli, or Khartoum, or Damascus, or Tehran, or
Islamabad, or Kabul.

By the way, the marijuana laws and penalties in Egypt have long been
ambiguous at best, and dependent in most cases on the whim of the
presiding judge. As a practical matter, it is very hard to get
arrested for pot in Cairo. I have experienced the pleasures of that
city first hand, and through my Twittering contacts there presently,
understand as a simple matter of fact that there has been an enormous
amount of pot smoking going on in Tahrir Square in the past few
weeks. I don't imagine there is any direct connection between that
and the other events unfolding there as well though. It's just a
coincidence.

No, not if we were friends.
Okay, so you and your real life friends sit around calling each other
names and all that? I've been around those types in my life and never
really enjoyed their company.

The friends I stick with are creative types, usually working on
songs... or people who actually enjoy the work I produce, my
performances, and so on.

Which brings me to the observation/question once again:

Not only do you constantly hurl insults at me (while pretending to be
my friend) but you've also stated repeatedly that you don't care for
my music, poetry & all that. Doesn't sound very much like the basis
for a very rewarding friendship for either of us... or am I missing
something?
If we were friends, I wouldn't feel
insulted by anything you said.
And a friend of mine finds out that I wouldn't call them names like
that unless they start the game off, and even then I'll probably wave
them off with some question like "Do we really want to go to that
level?"

names and all that? I've been around those types in my life and never
really enjoyed their company.
I obviously don't type people the way you do. Right now, me and my
real life friends are sitting around eating homemade peppersteak and
noodles. Looking over my shoulder, one of my real life friends just
commented in concurrence with my assessment of you as a moron. Heaven
forbid one of us spills something here. One of the other of us might
say something to the effect, "Here let me help you with that, moron.",
because that's how we are with one another.
Post by Will Dockery
The friends I stick with are creative types, usually working on
songs... or people who actually enjoy the work I produce, my
performances, and so on.
Some friends I work for; some work for me; some I work with. Some
enjoy their work; some like my work; some have even read my poetry.
Nothing is a particular prerequiste to friendship as far as I'm
concerned. The friends I stick with are all types but of no particular
type except that I trust my friends to tell me the truth about
important things even when I know they're lying.
Post by Will Dockery
Not only do you constantly hurl insults at me (while pretending to be
my friend) but you've also stated repeatedly that you don't care for
my music, poetry & all that. Doesn't sound very much like the basis
for a very rewarding friendship for either of us... or am I missing
something?
Yes, you are obviously missing something. You are obviously oblivious
to the obvious. You are a poor, poor moron, and I feel very, very
sorry for you.
Post by Will Dockery
And a friend of mine finds out that I wouldn't call them names like
that unless they start the game off, and even then I'll probably wave
them off with some question like "Do we really want to go to that
level?"
You are obviously incapable of such a deep and abiding trust and
honesty with and amongst your friends, which I find very, very sad.
You are obviously missing something.

No, it isn't that the information you post really "runs contrary to my
beliefs" but that I tend to be bored by all the weed discussions, here
and in real life, just as I assume all the Doo-Nanny references seem
to bore you... plus, I'm not comfortable discussing illegal activities

And I related a story about what can -and did- happen to a friend of

Actually, it seems one of us might get shot down, down in these
parts.

Anyone interested in finding out about Doo-Nanny can ask right here.
The question is what anyone is really interested in finding out, and
where they're likely to find it. The link you provided is limited in
what it offers. If people want a real feel for the place or event,
wouldn't they be better off talking to you about it here?

Actually, you're just dreaming that up, ggamble... I never went "on and

about that stuff, you and your lying ilk were constantly trying to smear

with such stuff, though.
Either way, that was years ago: That was then, this is now.
It's interesting that you don't outright lie
What would I have to lie about, ggamble? I have never denied that I followed
the Rimbaud method of poetry creation for many years, but I became bored
with all that and stopped a number of years ago:

http://www.likeadesertprophet.com/rimbaud-the-poet-makes-himself-a-seer/

"The poet makes himself a seer by a long, immense, and rational
dissoluteness of all the senses. All the forms of love, of suffering, of
madness; he searches himself, he consumes all the poisons in him, to only
keep their quintessences. Inexpressible torture where he needs all the
faith, all the superhuman strength, where he becomes, above all others, the
great patient, the great criminal, the great accursed, - and the supreme
Savant! - For he arrives at the unknown! Because he has cultivated his soul,
already rich, more than anyone else! He reaches the unknown, and when,
terrified, he ends up by losing the meaning of his visions, at least he has
seen them! Let him die of his bound through the unheard-of and countless
things: other horrible workers will come; they will begin from the horizons
where the other has succumbed." -Arthur Rimbaud

I know, but the law enforcement types down here are just as happy to
go the distance to screw around with anyone dealing with something
related, no matter how distant. A joint is cause for arrest, in a
situation with one friend of mine. Here's a short version of that
story:

My friend, a guy named Super Dave, lived on the Alabama side of the
river and used to come downtown on the Georgia side to the music
events and so on. Being a drinker, and knowing the dangers of getting
a DUI coming from these events, he decided he'd walk over the bridge,
party, then walk home. This seemed to work great for a while, and is
no doubt what people all over the world do and probably to great kudos
from all sorts of official types. After all, he made a choice that
wasn't endangering people by possibly driving drunk or whatever...

Long story shorter, he was picked up for walking drunk, public
intoxication, and a joint was found in his pocket, which turned an
overnight stay in jail to a 30 day sentence. For one joint.

Anyway, that's one reason I'm not so keen on ballyhooing the weed
thing. If you do it, okay, but I wouldn't advise bragging about it
down in Alabama.

A medical marijuana bill was actually approved last year by the

ended. The bill will be reintroduced this year. For more information

Raise taxes; cut services; or legalize marijuana and gambling; pay for
schools; create jobs; attract investment. It's a tough choice. Nobody
in Alabama gambles or smokes pot now because it's illegal and the
penalties are very harsh, so there's no way of knowing just how much
money the state could be making, or what kind of message such a legal
decision would give to the impressionable youth of Alabama, many of
whom rely on a public educational system that is unfortunately ranked
near the bottom of every list in virtually every category in large
part because they can't afford to hire, train, and retain teachers.

There is actually not a pretty good chance. Statistically, there is
very, very little chance that anyone doing such a search, particularly
a casual reader, would ever finding themselves here.

It's not going out of my way; and I don't snip content. I respond to
you, personally. The information I offered runs contrary to your
beliefs, and that's what you find bothersome and annoying. Of course
it's much easier to say I'm the one who is trying to annoy you rather
than to address the truth about what really annoys you. I don't
really care how many times you post and repost Doo-Nanny info, Will.
Why should I? I just know that it's a waste of your time and
resources. It's not that I'm telling you anything you haven't heard.
It's that on some level you know I'm right, and that bothers and
annoys you. Okay, fine. So deal with it.

No, it isn't that the information you post really "runs contrary to my

and in real life, just as I assume all the Doo-Nanny references seem
to bore you... plus, I'm not comfortable discussing illegal activities

Stop assuming and start working with me here, moron. I'm trying to
help you here. I'm not discussing any illegal activities at all. Your
stated belief is that posting Doo-Nanny information here is likely to
reach someone who is looking for that information. I'm telling you
that won't happen, or at least it's so unlikely as to not even be
worth considering, much less arguing about. There is a far greater
likelihood that an enthusiastic discussion of the event, its attendees
and supporters will influence those that might not otherwise have been
disposed to seeking out or attending such an event.

So, you start what's known in the biz as a 'buzz'. If the buzz you
put out about Doo-Nanny is about the buzz you can get at Doo-Nanny
without discussing illegal activities, then that can build to be a
really big buzz. I get buzzed by running. I have to run now, but
I'll catch a buzz later. Bye.

The point is there is no evidence that there are, were, or ever will
be any of 'them' to take anywhere, and if on the off chance one or two
casual readers did make it here, reposting a link is essentially
inconsequential in terms of its effect on disseminating Doo-Nanny
information to those desiring the information. Of course it makes you
feel better to think that you're performing a small public service and
that your effort isn't completely wasted, but that's only because you
don't realize in terms of real numbers just how close to absolutely
pointless your effort actually is.
