The first in the series, a scene at twilight, is very good. Your stuff tends to look like an undeveloped talent that would benefit by training. The first piece shows your strengths best.

I suppose it comes down to a matter of relativity: it's certainly a step up from the "shit stain" comments you usually receive.

But while it may be "QUITE positive" in relation to your usual comments, it certainly isn't anything you'd want to include on your artistic resume.

The first in the series, a scene at twilight, is very good. Your stuff tends to look like an undeveloped talent that would benefit by training. The first piece shows your strengths best.

I was just trying to explain how the English language works, Lady Bunny.

As a "writer," you could only benefit from gaining a better understanding of the language.

As an artist, it would also prove to your advantage if you could understand any reviews you might receive.

Or you could spend what little of you life remains swilling bum wine in your tent, and telling yourself that you're one of the masters.

I haven't read Berry's post.

Barry's post, otoh, shouldn't have required an explanation, as it was clear to those of us who are capable of comprehending our native tongue.

Unfortunately, any well-written sentence needs to be explained to you and your equally illiterate friends.

I give Zod just one benefit of the doubt by saying he would benefit from training. If he were showing us this work at seventeen, we'd say "get thee to an art school" but that horse has left the barn. Both these boys saw their prospects frozen for life at about age twelve.

Zod deserves a thanks for pleasing the eye, no more, no less.

Will-- thanks for nothing.

True, Barry's review was favorable.
Barry's saying basically the same thing that I am: Lady Bunny might have become a decent artist had he chosen a more productive life course, studied art, developed his craft, etc. Unfortunately, he chose to become a drunken pissbum and his art is on a par with that of a marginally talented 10-year old (although Barry finds it slightly more advance than I do and has raised the age to 12). We also agree that Bunny's work is markedly superior to your own.

I don't consider either of our takes on it to be favorable. They're rather sad: Bunny coulda been a contenda.

More great Barfield quotes:

""My paintings are religious at their deepest level, but it is a wild and earth-based religion. While I do not consider myself a Christian particularly, Christian imagery is apparent everywhere in my paintings.Groupings of three (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost) are very common. The sun, which is actually a Shaman's circle, is my symbol for the Deity (note: symbol. Not a sun god. A symbol, just as the Christian cross, or fish, is a symbol.) ..."
